Holiness

Here are some verses that I looked up this morning from the Bible. We must truly take God's Word seriously. We MUST pursue peace with our fellow man and holiness in our lives IF we want to see God. Hebrews says we won't see God without being holy. How many people do you know who live holy lives?
The gate is narrow we are to enter into heaven by and few will actually get there. There will be many that claim the name of Jesus, they think just because they said a prayer once that they are "IN", but many will hear from Him, depart from me I never knew you, because they did not pursue a holy life, they continued in their worldly, sinful, selfish life.
Pray and seek God's Word. Don't take anyone's word, just God's Word, for how to live your life.

“Pursue peace with all men and the sanctification (holiness) without which no one will see the Lord.” Hebrews 12:14

“Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”
2 Corinthians 7:1

“And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you, so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.” 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13

“This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.” Ephesians 4:17-24

“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it."For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” Matthew 7:13-14

“Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'” Matthew 7:22-23

Something else to consider as well is when Peter wrote this.....what was he quoting from. It might be very surprising to many.

I Peter 1:16:
Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

There are only a very few places in the OT where this command is given.
