GOD MADE MEDICINE

You probably are wondering what medicine God has made, well I will tell you. God made HERBS! I am so glad that God made herbs, they have so many different things that you can use them for, here are some of their uses.

They are good for you if you have allergies.

Right know my Dad has allergies and my mom had allergies just a couple of days ago and I have given her several herbs and know she is all better from her allergies for now. Here is a list of herbs that help with allergies:

Yarrow

Blue Violet Leaf

Alfalfa

Mullien

Nettles

Echinacea Leaf

Elderberry

Eucalyptus

These are just a few of the herbs that help with allergies.

One thing that I do is heat 2 cups of water and put a few drops of Eucalyptus Essential oil and have dad or mom (whoever has allergies ) put a blanket or towel over their heads and hold the water with essential oil under their nose for 5 minutes, it helps clear their sinuses.

I also like to put some Eucalypts leaf in a potpourri pot with water and have it on all day.

Here is a list of other herbs and some of the things that they are good for.

Peppermint

Helps with stomach aches and headaches.

Lavender

Helps you relax and helps with headaches.

Licorice Root

Helps sore throats and helps if you are losing your voice. (Horse Throat)

Bee Pollen- One time my sister cut her thumb and it would not stop bleeding so I gave her some Bee Pollen tea and in a couple of minutes her thumb stopped bleeding.

Red Raspberry Leaf

Helps with labor pains and other female pains. (Remember there are some herbs that you cannot take when pregnant)

Orange peels

Help with bronchitis and you can also dry them and make vitamin C powder by grinding them.

Cloves

Help with mouth sores, just put a whole clove on the sore and soon it will heal it, it might sting for a minute and you might have to do it a couple of times but it will heal it.

Cinnamon

Is very good for your teeth, it help you keep your teeth health and can help you not to have cavities. You can steep a cup of tea and put a cinnamon stick in it and when you are done drinking your tea take your cinnamon stick out and eat it.

Dandelion

Yes, it is that weed in yard and along the roads and well almost everywhere, it really is a herb that has many uses. You can use all parts of a dandelion, the leafs, stem, roots and flowers, they are best to be picked before the flowers open. Here are some of the things that dandelion helps with:

-Lowers blood pressure

-Helps build energy

-Helps with weight lose

-One of the best liver cleansers

-Used to treat skin disease

-Used to help cancer, Diabetes and helps with digestion

-It helps with fevers.

Ginger

Can help relieve congestion and helps with fevers and helps you relax and relieve achy muscles, it also helps remove toxins from the body, helps you with digestion and is good for relieving motion sickness or morning sickness.

Horse tail (also known as shave grass)

No, you do not just go and cut some hair off your horses’ tail and make some tea, but you can use this plant called horse tail and it is good for helping your nails and hair to grow and also strengthens them.

These are only a few of the herbs that God has made and there are other herbs that help with some of the same things and there are a lot of other herbs that help with different things.

I think that most people would be surprised to know that a flower in their garden or in the front yard might really be an herb. God made these herbs so we can use them to help us stay healthy,

People in the Bible days did not have medicines like we have today. Their medicines where made out of herbs, they would also use herbs to put on their dead before they were buried, they would also use herbs to season there food and they would use them to put on their burnt offerings to God.

I love to use herbs and I like to learn about them, I hope that many people will try to find herbs and use them. You can use them for so many things and you can find so many books on how to use herbs.

I hope you will want to learn more about herbs and their uses and why God made them for us to use.

Extra Thankful

I know this is not Monday, but I had to write about how thankful I am for my two younger daughters. My allergies have hit me pretty hard this year. I was even in bed for a day last month. My two daughters stepped up and took over the household chores. They did all my chores, as well as their own. I am so thankful that they have learned to do all the household chores so I don't have to be concerned about them if I am not feeling well. I am also thankful for their servants hearts. Besides doing my chores and theirs, they also made all the meals (from scratch) and gave me my tincture regularly. So here I am again suffering from allergies and they are splitting my ironing between themselves, washing their own laundry (by hand) and getting me my tinctures.
Thank you, God for two very special young ladies. I am truly blessed.

Christmas and the Retirement Home Visit

One of the things I like about being home schooled is that once a month we go and visit a retirement home. We have been doing this for three years. At first, I was scared and very shy, I hardly talked, even if I was sitting next someone.

Once we were used to going, Alicia and I made friends with this one lady, she was a very nice, cheerful lady. She would recognize us when we came to see her. She would tell the person sitting next to her that "my girls are here". Then she would ask us what took us so long to come back. We enjoyed going and visiting her. A couple of months ago she got really sick and passed away.

The next month when we returned I met a new lady, her name is Esther, who I now visit with each month. She has a friend who is there taking care of her, and has been for over 10 years. I really like visiting with Esther and her friend.

I think God led me to her for a reason, here is why:

This month we went with a couple of other families. We sang songs, some Christmas
carols and some hymns. Then after wards we passed out Christmas cards
we had made. Each person received at least three cards. I had made a special one for Esther.
She left before I was able to give it to her, so I gave it to one of the lady's that works there.
She went to give it to Esther, while I finished passing out my cards.
A few minutes later, here came Esther with her friend. She came looking like she was ready
to cry. I walked over to her and she gave me a hug and said, "Thank you for the card. I have not received a card in a very long time." It made me sad to think she had not received a card
in a long time. But it made me happy to know I was able to help her in a small way.

I hope a lot of people will help brighten the day of an elderly person. Even if you are just walking past them in the store, you can smile at them and you just might get a smile back.

I am glad that I have been able to help the elderly and remember they have the most interesting stories to tell, plus it is what Jesus would do.

What I Am Thankful For...

My family

One of the things I am most thank for is my family. If I did not have my family then I do not where I would be. I was adopted into this family and I have never questioned why. I know that God put me here so that I could learn to love Him and to love my Daddy and become the young lady that God wants me to be. My family has been given to me to teach me things.

Here are some of things that my family have taught me.

My Daddy has taught me to love God and to love God's word.

My Mom has taught me how to cook, clean, sew and how to be a young lady.

My older sister, Nicole, has taught me how to write poems and stories. She has a love for stars and I have a love for stars, just like her.

My older brother has taught me never to give up, to trust God and tell yourself you can do it with God's help and with a good attitude .

My other older sister, Alicia, has taught me to be to be patient, kind and not to get angry very quickly.

I love all the things I have learned from my family and hope to learn much more.

I know that I do not tell my family how much I appreciate all the things that they have taught me and all the things that they have done for me. So this thanksgiving I am going to make a list of all the things that they have taught me and then read it to them Thanksgiving day. You can do this too and maybe make a difference in your family.

I think that people have forgoten what Thanksgiving is about .They just think too much about the big feast and good times with friends. When it should be about thanking God for all He has done and thank God for the people that traveled a long way and suffered much, just so we can worship God freely.

I thank God that He gave me a family that loves God and hope you will thank God for your your family this Thanks giving.

My First Salmon- Fishing & Obedence Lessons

Today we went fishing for salmon. It was a lot of fun. We went to the Wallace river near Sultan. We left early this morning, after packing a lunch of sandwiches, carrots and nuts. The weather was nice and sunny. There were lots of fish jumping and we caught a lot of them, but they only broke our lines. I caught 4 fish and got them just about on shore when they broke my line. We forgot our nets at the car (all three of them) and we were quite a ways away from the car, so we did not go back to get them. But then I caught one! It was 21 inches from head to tail. I do not know how much it weighed. It was very slimy. It put up a good fight. When we got it on shore it was still flopping a lot, so I whacked its head on the rocks to knock it out. Then I put it in a plastic bag, and took the hook out of the fish. The fish woke up and started to bite threw the bag, so I wrapped it up in the bag and it flopped around for a while before it died. I know you are probably wondering what it has to do with obedience. When I had hooked the first few fish (the ones that got away) I was reeling them in at my own pace and speed and it got away. But then my mom instructed me on how to do it better. I followed her instructions, and I caught my fish (the one in the picture). So I learned it is better to trust my parents experience and obey them immediately. If I had not obeyed mom immediately I would not have caught my fish and would not have been very happy. But I am excited I caught my fish. But most of all I am happy for this lesson on the importance in trusting the lessons my parents teach me. I hope everybody will find the same joy, when they obey their dad and mom or God immediately.

Birthdays and Horse lessons

Last week, we celebrated the girls' 14th and 15th birthdays. It was a lot of fun. They also wore their new riding boots they bought with money from their Grandpa and Grandma Noa, during their horse lesson last week.Now, Hannah, make sure you share with your sister:)

My daddy is so wonderful. He is loving and kind and loves his family. He loves God and early in the morning you will see him reading his Bible. Any time you have a problem he will always say "lets pray"and that is what I love about him.

My Brother

I only have one brother and he is very special to me in a lot of ways.

My brother is in the Navy and I am glad he is. He tells us so many stories about places where he has been and what he has seen. I say that he is the best the storyteller in the world.

He is a very kind and loving brother I could not ask for a better brother. He is one that can make people of all ages from baby's to the elderly laugh. My brother is very encouraging, one time I didn't know how to figure out a math problem and he helped me and then it was very easy.

When my brother is away he always sends letters or calls us. Lately, he has been calling every week which is very nice.

He is a very happy person and I can not remember a time when he was not wearing a smile. When I get upset or am not wearing a smile around him he try's to make a sad face to make us happy again and it always works.

I love my brother a lot and do not know what our family would be like with out him.

I really like my sister she makes the house always feel like home. She is always walking around the house singing hymns and she always likes to do things with me. I like doing things with her. It is always easy to do things with her because we both like to do the same things, like, draw pictures, and sing hymns. Her three favorite hymns that I know of are: In my heart there rings a Melody, When peace like a River and In the garden . Her favorite types of books to read are biographies and the Bible. She is always looking for ways to help others and she loves every night to massage our daddy's feet. She loves baby's and when she sees one she always has to hold them. She can do a lot of things that other girls do not know how to do, she can sew, cook, feed and change a baby's diaper, she knows how to wash and iron laundry, she is a good singer and is very good at math. She likes it when someone in our household gets sick, not because they are sick, but because she likes to help them get better. I wish every one could have a sister like her .

Retirement home

Every 3rd Thursday Mom ,Alicia and I will go visit a retirement home in Stanwood.

When we first started Alicia and I were very shy of them we did not talk to any of the residents very much, but now Alicia and I have made a new friend. We always are excited to go visit
her and she is always excited to see us when we come. We go to the retirement home with several of our other friends so they bring several residents out in to their activity room and we do crafts or play games with the residents.

Yesterday we went and made ice cream in a bag, it was a lot of fun. The residents all got to shake the bag then we all, even the residents, got to have a little bite of ice cream.

We have done so many fun things there. Alicia and I always look forward to going, not for the fun things or the crafts that we do, but because we love to visit our new friend. When we are with her time goes by so quickly that when it is time for us to go she always asks us if we will come to see her the next month. We always tell her that we hope so and then she is happy to let us go because she knows that we will visit her again. We always have fun and always look forward to the next time we go to visit her.

My 13th Birthday (Hannah)

On Friday, it was my birthday, but we celebrated it on Saturday, because that was also my older sister's birthday (we take turns celebrating our birthdays on our day). For our dinner, dad bbq'd spare ribs and we had angel eggs and home grow corn picked just that day, then we ate angel food cake with strawberries, that mom made just that morning. Mom and dad gave us books on how to draw flowers and trees, dogs, and all sorts of baby animals. I also got a space experement kit. Mom and dad also gave us two new dvds to watch. I had a very, very good birthday.

What I love about my family

The greatest dad

I love my family very much. The things I love about my dad is that he is so funny, and he is so full of wisdom on history, math, computers, the Bible and so much more. He loves to spend time with us as a family. I love my dad for all the things he has taught me like, fishing, how to tell the good and the bad in all things, he has taught me how to draw, he has taught me to use my imagination and most of all he has taught me you can do just about any thing if you set your mind to, and most of all because he loves the Lord and his family.

I love my mom because she is a good cook, and because she loves babies and children. She has taught me to sew, cook, clean, knit, crochet, love babies and children, iron, garden, read, and to help the elderly. Most of all she has taught me to love God and to love my father.

Alicia is very kind and the things I love about her is that she can make you laugh even if she was not trying to make you laugh, she loves to read with me, play all sorts of things with me, she loves children and babies and they love her. Most of all becuse she is always singing.

I love my brother because he is always making us laugh at dinner and because he always tells us stores of all his adventures. Most of all because he is my only brother and he loves the Lord.

Nicole loves the beach, shells, writing stories and poems , she love astronomy and she loves to make you laugh and she loves animals, and most of all because she loves God.

Lita she is a very silly, cuddly dog who love her family, and loves being outside, she loves rocks, sticks and most of all her blue ball.

I love my family most of all because we all love the Lord and love to help others.

Getting ready for camping

We will be going camping next week and we have been doing a lot to get ready. So far we have:set up our tent in the back yard; dad, Alicia and I have all ready slept in the tent. It was fun. Dad and mom have bought Alicia and I cots to sleep on. We already have all our meals planned and now we just have to put every thing together and go camping.

ON Saturday it was Dad and Mom's anniversary. Alicia and I made a family breakfast . All of us had coffee, scrambled eggs and toast. For dad and mom's present Alicia and I made them a paper elephant for them, then at night Dad and mom went out for dinner. While they where gone we stayed home with Chris and our older sister and her husband came over. It was a very good and happy day especially for Dad and mom.

Garden News

The Noa gardens are doing very well. We have radishes that we have started to pick and eat ,We have six tomato plants growing in our gardens one of them alredy has a flower on it . We also have ten tomato plants in our green house.We have eight corn plants growing that do not have corn heads yet. We also have lettuce and spinach.My mom also has some chamomile growing.

A busy week

This has been a very busy week. I am just now getting around to uploading our photos. So we will have a montage here of our week.

Hannah and Alicia have been working on Election lapbooks all year and are just about finished with them. Most of the work left to do will come after the conventions and then finish up with the general election. They thoroughly enjoy learning this way.

Here is one of my favorite photos (it is almost two weeks old but I just had to put it on) Don't these young ladies have beautiful faces? God has truly blessed our family with these two young ladies.


Hannah and Alicia decided they wanted to start a book club with some friends, so here they are on Thursday going over the book and some questions they had regarding the first chapter.

The ladies were continuing with their dessert baking class this week. We were blessed with oatmeal/raisin cookies, Snickerdoodles and here Hannah is checking the temperature for the Almond Roca. When making candy the temperature must be just right or it won't set properly.

The temperature is almost right, but you must be patient! Hannah is doing a great job at being patient.

Alicia is reviewing the recipe to see what they need to do next. They have become quite proficient at reading and following recipes.

We had waaaaaaay toooooo much rain this week so we are not sure how our garden will fair. Most everything is turning yellow from too much rain. We keep praying that God will still bless our crops as we attempt to provide for the needs of our family.

We had a wonderful surprise on Tuesday with the appearance of our oldest daughter and her husband coming over for dinner. We had a great visit with them and look forward to many more visits.

We had a great week and look forward to tomorrow as we venture down to Yelm, Wa to visit my dad for Father's day.
