My Birthday Gift

As most of you know I had a birthday a little over a week ago. Well, my wonderful Son gave me a great gift. He gave me a gift certificate for Amazon.com.  Boy, did I have a great time shopping and spending. And believe me I spent every penny of it on books and DVD's, not one red cent on shipping (I made sure every thing I ordered was available for free Super Saver shipping. I did end up paying $4.52 more, just because I couldn't get my order to the exact amount and didn't want to waste any of it:)
So anyway here is what I was able to get with the awesome gift.  (Thank you, Christopher, very much. It is much appreciated.)  Now most of the books will be helpful once we get a farm in a dire emergency situation, but I wanted to get a head start. A couple are for personal growth and the DVD's were just for fun.

Another Year

This week was my birthday. My family always treats me like a queen. I received a wonderful email from my oldest daughter and her husband and a call from my son. My two younger daughters took great care of me all day. My husband came home with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. My daughters made me a wonderful cake. I received gifts that were just what I needed. Here are some photos of the day. I am truly blessed. Thank you, God for such a wonderful, loving family.

Here is the card my daughters made for me. Isn't it beautiful!!

The Royal Treatment

One of many Happy Birthday greetings waiting for me when I came out of the bedroom
My queenly crown
A quilted pillow I had begun over 20 years ago that my daughters completed (great job ladies!!)

I had a birthday this week and received the royal treatment. My daughters made Happy Birthday signs and put them all around the house. They made me a crown to wear all day, so I would feel like a queen. The banished me from the kitchen and fixed all my meals and snacks for the day (they even did a pretty good job of cleaning up too:) They made me a blueberry cheesecake that tasted wonderful. They found a quilting project that I had started over 20 years ago and finished for me and gave it to me as a gift. One of them also made me a cloth bag to put some of my hand work in (I am always looking for something to put my projects into). They made me a beautiful card with photos of me as a baby, a teenager and one when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter, they were very creative.
My new Food Saver (Thank you, VERY much Son)
My husband and son are very practical (which is one of the things I LOVE about them). My husband bought me a stick blender and camera (both of which we really needed). My son bought me a new Food Saver (the last one he bought me died from using it soooooo much). I received a very nice email from my oldest daughter in CA. So the day was a very wonderful day, even if I did turn a year older. I am thankful for my family and their thoughtfulness.
Now we can take more photos (Thank you, Honey, you are the BEST!!!)

My 13th Birthday (Hannah)

On Friday, it was my birthday, but we celebrated it on Saturday, because that was also my older sister's birthday (we take turns celebrating our birthdays on our day). For our dinner, dad bbq'd spare ribs and we had angel eggs and home grow corn picked just that day, then we ate angel food cake with strawberries, that mom made just that morning. Mom and dad gave us books on how to draw flowers and trees, dogs, and all sorts of baby animals. I also got a space experement kit. Mom and dad also gave us two new dvds to watch. I had a very, very good birthday.

We each received our own Grandmother's Hope Chest book with baking kit and sewing kit
I was thrilled to get this space exploration kit

Yesterday was my birthday

Here I am enjoying being Queen for a day

Yesterday was my birthday. My daughters started the day off by making me a crown and coronating my queen for the day. They then made me breakfast, washed my laundry and got most of my ironing done. I was really a lady of leisure yesterday. They made my favorite lunch, macaroni and cheese with tomatoes and mushrooms, and served watermelon on the side. They also made dinner, Shepherd's pie and applesauce. They then surprised me with a cheesecake that they had made. It was very light and tasted wonderful.

Ralph brought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers when he came home from work. I received some wonderful gifts, very large fluffy bath sheets made from turkish cotton, an herb gardening book for Washington/Oregon, a necklace and earrings and a memory box full of wonderful verses, original songs, and thoughts from my daughters.

My oldest daughter, Nicole and her husband dropped by for a little while in the afternoon, which was a wonderful surprise. Nicole gave me a handmade card with a wonderful poem that she had written.

I am so blessed to have a family who loves me so much and thinks about me like this on my birthday. I wish everyone could experience this type of love.

Yesterday Christopher had to work all day so he missed my birthday. Today he came home though with my birthday gift. He gave me a Dutch oven table. It will be great for using outside on hot days or when we go camping.
